Olga Montserrat Gutierrez
I'm a creative director.
I manage up, I manage down.
I collaborate horizontally.
I roll up my sleeves. I lead people. I push pixels.
I believe in user-centered design.
I think creatively. I validate strategically.
I live by rules. I break the rules.
I thrive in chaos. I iron out wrinkles.
I invent process. I work without process.
I balance budgets. I write scopes.
I pitch. I sell. I present. I'm resourceful.
I go with the flow. I swim upstream.
I'm part of the team. I am the team.
I'm wrong. I'm right. I'm conceptual.
I think I'm funny. I know I'm funny.
I walk on eggshells. I step on toes.
I'm comfortable with ambiguity.
I'm smart. I'm fast.
I speak my mind. I pick my battles.
I work hard. I play nice.
The most rewarding aspects about being a creative in this industry has been the friendships with coworkers and the opportunity to be a mentor to up-and-coming creatives.
I selectively take on freelance projects as a creative consultant, offering strategy, design, collage and art services. Contact me to ask about freelance.
I'm an artist.
I was born in Mexico, grew up in Eagle Rock (Los Angeles for the unfamiliar), and went to school at UC Berkeley. I paint and collage pieces around themes of home, belonging, and women in boys' clubs.
